I’ve been looking diligently for a clean, 5-speed, two-door XJ. They’re frustratingly rare.

All the things you mentioned are mythical at this point.

As of now the US have one candidate that’s a bloody abomination and one that’s just not likeable :(

If you find me the Jeep, I will make America tolerable again

I don’t hate the US, just the politics, the people I know seem to be quite awesome. But sure, I’ll keep my eyes peeled :)

I had a clean red 96 Cherokee 4x4 2 door with the five speed. Regret selling it constantly

I love everything about those early rigs. I’d even love the the 2.8 if equipped.

And one that should be ineligible for office.

Back in februrary one rolled through my insurance company’s (crown-corp, state run, because Canada) salvage auction. Looked super clean from the pics they had up, couldn’t see a spot of rust on it, paint was beautiful, none of the decals were worn at all, etc. Small amount of damage on the rear bumper, could have picked up another one at the local wrecker for $50 and she would have been mint again. Except not only did they total it out for that, they also gave it an irreparable title because it was over the age where it becomes “environmentally unfriendly” for emissions reasons, which they do to any vehicle over 20 years old. I was so furious about it... still want to punch whoever let them total it out in the mouth.

We arguably had that in ‘76 - whatever their personal failings, Ford and Carter both seemed like genuinely affable guys.

Heck, in ‘92, my ‘85 wasn't even close to being clean. The biggest pile of regret I ever purchased was that thing.

Found two manual ones so far; ones showing its age and the other has some bolt on mods done to, so I won't give up yet. I expect my presidential candidates...
